CBZ Bank edged CABS 3-2 in a Financial Services Soccer League (FSSL) match played at Greendale Sports Club in the capital on Saturday, 21st of October 2017.
CBZ, who were playing at home, took an early lead and went to the break leading 2-1 courtesy of a brace by Chris Nazare (4) in the 16th & 21st minutes while CABS’ first half goal was scored by Malvern Muchenu (12) on 36 minutes. After the break, CBZ signalled the intention to kill the match off as a contest as early as the 2nd minute of the second half when Simbarashe Gandiwa (12) scored the third and final goal by the “Partners for Success.”
CABS launched a spirited comeback bid in the second half and were duly rewarded when Ngonidzashe Fero scored the fifth and final goal of the match on 70 minutes. However, despite creating at least three clear-cut scoring chances, CABS was unable to breach the CBZ defence.
Commenting on the team’s performance in a post- match interview with MFSB Sport CABS team manager David Nkata said: “I think it was an evenly balanced match. It’s unfortunate that in the first quarter of the game we… I think we panicked. We didn’t play our usual game. Our guys took time to settle. That’s the reason why we conceded an early goal.”
Class 2 referee Shepherd Mudzingwa handled the match, assisted by Ishmael Dengura (Class 1).
